Our Classes

Shaolin

Classes begin with a group warm up to develop your fitness, strength and flexibility. This is generally followed by basic techniques, and combination striking using pads/mitts. The class will then split into groups of experience, where students practice more complicated movements including throws/falls, weaponry, sparring and self-defence.

For these classes, please ensure you have short, clean finger and toenails, and wear comfortable clothes such as shorts and a t-shirt that you can move in.

Taiji

These classes tend to be gentler than the Shaolin classes, and are excellent for maintaining health as we age. These classes will introduce meditation, breathing exercises, and Taiji/Tai Chi forms. Taiji forms are sequences of relaxed movements that are used to reorganise your posture and coordination.

Taiji classes are often done wearing shoes. Please ensure that you have clean, light shoes that you can move in. If you wish you may also train in bare feet. Enrolled students will need a pair of shoes that they wear just for the class that are not worn outside, in order to help us keep the mats clean.

Kids Classes

Martial art classes are a great investment in your child’s mental development and long-term health. At EMA young children learn important motor skills in a safe and friendly environment. The improvements made in coordination, awareness, and discipline often help with challenges that young people face outside of training, and as students get older this can translate into self-defence skills as well.
